3" lift in GU Ute, front tailshaft mods required ?

Post by Dick »

I have a 3" lift (recently installed before I got it) and I am hearing that I may need a front tailshaft spacer ? any comments please?
Also looking at drop box set up for radius arms rather than castor bushes, this seems smarter idea to me and would allow the rear bush to flex like it used to... maybe !

You won't need to touch the tail shaft, I have the same set up and no problems. The wagons have the same setup as well and no one I know has touched the front shaft.

Its not critical to adjust the the caster although there is a small difference in the drive. I would think drop boxes are over the top for a 3" lift, depeding on what you are doing with the vehicle bushes would be fine if you feel you need caster adjustment.

Righto thanks,
I did run the truck up on my ramps at home and it seemed quite stiff and didnt flex that well.. Thus the reasons for looking at getting the front arms moving a bit, have also read that some of the poly castor bushes will limit movement even more.. ?

shouldnt need mods and it should flex ok.

However did you order extra heavy duty springs with out weight because if you did that your not going to get that much flex.

Nothing but a steel bar on front at present, front coils are 19mm, rears are 22mm. Could be a tad stiff then eh ?
