Need some help with diagnosing 2 separate clutch sounds. I have a GQ 4.2 EFI with aboud 140,000 KM on the clock. It has a custom extractor and flow through exhaust.
1) When the engine is at normal operating temperature, i.e. first marker on the coolant gauge, the clutch pedal returning from depressed position squeaks. The squeak comes from the clutch fork area, clutch fluid is not leaking? Strange as this only occurs when the engine is warmed up, perhaps the heat from the flow through exhaust is causing the grease to heat up. Flow through has no heat shield, unlike stock exhaust/manifold.
2) Second sound is when the gearbox is in neutral, and the clutch is not pressed, there is a swoosh sound coming from the gearbox area in the cab. I have had the throw out bearing replaced about 8 months ago, and the clutch replaced 18 months ago. When you depress the clutch, even in neutral, the sound is not there, but back again when the pedal is back.
cheers,

You say that your's does the same, I take it you have not bothered getting it fixed, if not any reason? And how big of a job is it to replace the main shaft bearing?MyGQ wrote:for the number 2 one, that is a Mainshaft bearing. mine does the same and thats what i have been told the prob is by gearbox specialist.
