winches??

hey guys i recently one a competition and 1st prize was a terrain tamer series 3 winch 9.5lb
i have a tj on 35s twin lokkas
is this a good winch for me and my type of 4by or am i best of with something else trying to decide wether to put it onto the tj,
if so do i also change the cable to that dyna rope??

Personally I;d hock it for as much as possible and put the $$ towards an 8274.

but this winch will it do the jobs im after and hold up ok??

Without knowing anything about the terrian tamer winches. If its rated at 9500lb then it will be ample for a Jeep. The 8274 mentioned is a Warn Hi-mount that is only rated at 8000lb.
So if you already have it and dont use or have a need for winch very often. I would wack it on.

I'm with Wooders if your entering comps the 8274 is the go .I have a chinese 10ooolb job it works OK but is V E R Y slow compared to a high mount definately not what you'd want in comps .

And yes the 8274 is on my must get list

Also consider this. It is much easier to sell a brand spanking new winch than it is a second hand one thats only been used once.
If you now your gonna end up getting and using a winch often then ditch it. Scour e-bay constantly and buy a highmount.

For most people it would probably be fine.
But if you want anthing near competition level then you DO want an 8274.
I had a 20 year old 8274 and sold it for an XP9.5 - which is IMHO one of the best low mount winches available.....And I have regretted it since.....

also what are the prices on both those winches???

& I HAD an 8274 in my ARB bumper - although it did take a little modification to make it fit ;)
