GQ + 33's - LIFT?

Post by dano80 »

Got some 33's (Maxxis Buckshot's, I think they measure 32.2) on the way........But no coin (yet) for lift, Any idea if they'll fit? The reason for going tyres first, is my huge :D 31's are knackered, their first on the list as their almost bald! It hasn't sagged......I don't think, it's done 180,000 easy klms, by elderly owner prior to myself. Wotcha think?

Cheers, Dano.

They will fit under the wheel arches and will be fine on the road, but will foul the guards when you put full lock on and have any sort of flex travel. When you get them on, your patrol will also look lowered. I run a 2" lift and 305 x 70 x 16s which are equivalent to a 33 x 12.5 and have no issues but you do hear of others with this combo that have rubbing under the guards and also mud flaps.

At the end of the day there is nothing stopping you putting em on and see how you go. Also depends if you have 10.5 wide or 12.5 wide. GQs do look a $hit load better with bigger tyres.

How the hell do you get your missus driving a GQ with 33s? I am hard pressed getting mine to ride in it let alone drive it!!

I just fitted a bar and hi mount to mine but I think she might complain when the lift and 33's go on it. I'm having trouble convincing her that as it is the tow truck / support truck it should be setup similar to the race truck! I wonder what she'll say when the intercooler a ball bearing turbo get ordered!!!!

I have seen some of those roads on those NZ cop shows. I would have thought 33's at a minimum. Maybe even a front locker.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying. Mrs T_Diesel is always complaining that I spend more money on the truck than I do on her.

Their not 33's darling, I just got some bags of concrete in the back! She doesn't know the 33's are 33's, if that makes sense. Plus its the only car she would drive, as mine is a company ute, or a lwb sierra......not much else to pick from

:bad-words: <we'll see what she says? will post again when they go on next week!!!!!

t_diesel I WISH I HAD YOUR PROBLEM I HAVE ENOUGH TROUBLE GETTING THE MISUS OUT OF THE DRIVING SEAT

Put a bigger lift in and fit 37 inch tyres, then rub up against the odd rock or tree. My wife flatly refuses to be seen in mine let alone drive it. :D

all you need is a father in law who sunk to shorty land crusiers in a river when his daughter was bout 5 or 6 and she won't even look at a dirt road let alone get in the mk. Any way back to the topic yeah they should fit just be a bit tight.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, The 33's are on! Went for a quick squirt to the bush just behind my house, all flexed up on full lock.........and..........wait for it............no scrubbing!!!!!! Nice looking tyre. Will post some pics in the days coming. I think the saving grace is the fact they are not a full size 33. They measure 32.2, still quite larger and heaps chunkier than previous 31x10.5 Crap-Year Wrangler ATR's. :!: The best part is the fact that they slightly hang out the guards, as opposed to the stockers that sit inside the guard by about 2".

Nice one, what did you end up getting and did you go the 12.5s instead of the 10.5s?

Sounds like it if they hang out of the guard.

Already has flairs on it. When I say hang out the guards, its not actually the tread........just a small bit of the sidewall!
