Noise coming from the back

Post by camskizook »

Hi all

can anyobdy tell me how to distinguish if the noise coming from the back is a stuffed wheel bearing or a stuffed diff? Because after talking to my mechanic he thinks it may the diff and not a wheel bearing like i thought....

Ok you will usually hear a stuffed wheelbearing all the time and it will usually make basicly the same noise at any speed but i stuffed diff will howl at different rates all the time and most of the time when you back of the throttle it will get real quiet or real loud.

you have to pull the axles to pull the centre out anyway so just pull the axles and if the wheel bearings are shot you dont need to go any further
