No idea... (engine problem)

Post by Dooley »

The zook sounded really nasty but no idea what's wrong with it, thought maybe someone else might've had this.

It was making a banging metallic noise, like bashing a tin can.

You could hear it slowly at idle, it got faster up to about 3000rpm then fades away and then gets worse again.

With the sump off, can't see any carnage, bearing and crankshaft all look okay.

Worth taking the head off to check skirts ?

Any ideas ?

Well big ends are fine.

Probably gonna take the head off.

Should check the plugs now that I think about it.

I guess you could say power went down, kinda lurched straight after the noise started... ouch...

edit:

Plugs are all a little bit carboned up, all the same condition.

Okay well it was big end.

Looked at a few and they were in perfect nick so assumed it wasn't that.

1, 2 and 3 were all in great condition... 4 was absolutely stuffed.

It's been apart before so guessing someone made a mistake. :?

Well thanks for your help, now it's time to decide what to do with it.
