pushed my button and it wont work, i think its jammed in full of dust
how do i get the left side stalk apart? can i just reef the outer cover orr, or should i put a new one on?
also my steering column must be loose, it has a bit of up and down movement even when locked into place

Maybe soak it with Lanolin (roothy style) and see if it gets the dust out and starts working.bj on roids wrote:80 series windscreen sprayer jammed

My column has slight movement also so i think its quite standard.

With the loose steering column there should be a couple of bolts that secure the upper part of the column to a bracket under the dash. These bolts might be loose. You'll probably have to take the plastic column covers off to see these bolts. Not sure about getting the left stalk covers apart to play with the wiper button but while the column covers are off you can just take the steering wheel off and remove the entire combo switch assembly and have a play on a work bench.
Make sure the steering wheel is straight before you take it off.

UNLUCKY!

So I am reluctant to remove the wheel, but it should not pose a real issue, I dont beleive, rather pull it on the bench...
I would say in a certain position with a good solid movement the outer button assembly would come off....
I will try it on the car, may pull the plastics off, reluctant as I know how much red dirt is gunna be under there

Yeah not a big deal. Disconnect negative battery terminal and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Just dont go stabbing any wires with a test light and you'll be sweet. BJ I doubt you'll be able to get that stalk apart without shattering it to pieces. Its just a spring sitting under that button but there are very thin wires running up inside the stalk that will easily get damaged. Might have to find a second hand combo switch and just throw it on.
