Re: 60 series transfer case ????
this could be a efect of broken motor or tranny mount .. anycase if nor and the issue it's the " secure ball " ( I'm not sure the english name ) in the t-case pretty easy to solve ..scuba steve 22 wrote:i need 2 replace my transfer as it jumps outer 4wd low under load.

No they will not, the 4 speed transfer is different to the 5 speed.scuba steve 22 wrote:no body lift
i want to use the 81 4 speed transfer with my 83 5 speed box
do they bolt up ?
The 4 speed input shaft is not supported where it enters the transfer because there is a bearing on the back of the 4 speed gearbox, the 5 speed transfer has a bearing to support the input shaft because the box does not.
If you put the 4 speed transfer onto a 5 speed box, you end up with no bearing in th box + no bearing in the transfer = nothing to support the gears in the transfer, WILL NOT WORK
I have just disassembled both of the transfers mentioned, in order to do away with the vacuum selector and tried to fit the 4 speed transfer to my gearbox, it wont work
