transfer case oil leak

hello
i had the rear air locker in my challenger rebuilt and when i got home from the mechanics i noticed a pool of oil under car at rear of transfer case
can any one tell me why it would start leaking there when the diff was all they worked on

They would have removed the tailshaft, which allows oil to run out of the transfer case.

There are two reasons this is dripping now. Either they pinched the seal putting the tailshaft back in and it is leaking, or some oil dripped into the dust cover or cross member and will continue to drip until it is all gone.

Get underneath, clean all the oil up from the cup and crossmember and see if it keeps happening.

If the seal is stuffed it will be losing quite a bit of oil and should be fixed quickly.

Check the oil level as they may not have topped it up after the leak.

AS crh said - it may not be still leaking but just what is cleaning itself off after the tailshaft was removed as when thats done the oil flows out!

By the sounds the seals are easy enough to replace

thanks for the replys i took it back to the mechanic and he replaced the seal and that seems to of fixed the problem
