Those who have done a dual cab conversion, is it necessary to fit additional body mount/support points after doing the chop? I have heard that some of the more commercial dual cab converters do this.

To all those who chopped in queensland,

i've just finished having my 75 cut by creative conversions, and while it's a bang up perfect job (it really is the goods), next time i'd like to have a shot at it myself. I was going to do it myself this time, but going through an engineer was going to cost thousands. How many of you that did it yourself used an engineer, and did any of you just deal with the DOT directly to get it plated. How painful was it if you did?

Creative did my brothers one, it is a dual cab and extended tray/chassis

massive and looks neat as!!

I've been talking to the engineer who did my engine conversion approval (conversion was done down south) about cutting the 80 into a dual cab, and all the chasing I went through, you just need to find a DOT Approved Person to approve your mod.

I'm running 37's and haven't had to cut anything yet. I do need a bit of a trim, but nothing major. This is with a 3" + 2" lift.

What coils are being run under these 80 utes front and rear?

I've got a 6" allround under mine as full bodied. I am wondering whether I will need to go 4" or 2" lifted coils in the rear to level with the front?

are you extra cab?
dual cab?
full body?
tray?
what is the tray made from?

I would not run a 6" lift to start with, but if you are happy with it, I don't beleive it will be that much lighter, depending on how you set it up.

ferog i had 5" alround before the cut and now have 4" in the rear with 5 still in the front, but finding even the 4"s in the rear are to firm it sits nice but rides to hard, EFS are working on it for me.

Yep, once it's uted.
I left the question open so I can get a few different ideas and for others to read up on, but anyhow mine will be a similar to Coightys/69 mud- extra cab with RHS flat tray.

my extra cab is also 5"fronts and 4 in the rear for its stance and same drama its a little harsh in the rear end on the bumps

I'm running 4" front and 3" rear in my ute and find that the rear way to hard. There EFS coils all round.

My father used to have a conversion business called Fraser Coast Conversions. Had it running for a while before the whole drought ordeal started a few years back now and then the main customers (farmers) stopped spending money so he just closed up shop.

Here are some of the photos of what used to be our show car. I know its a 100 series but thought id throw it up for everyone to see anyway :D They are a great car but with extending the chassis you make the turning circle larger and then it ends up being just as hard to park as an F250 haha. You can just put a smaller tray on the back and keep the chassis the same but I reckon it looks silly (no offence to anyone with one).

It's owned by dave towell. I nearly bought it a couple of years ago. A very well built truck for comps and touring.
