Just after 2 days I have ended up ditching the experiment

There was a serious air distribution problem, egts would rise quickly (even on a 5.00am startup) and would sit on 500 while cruising on the M4 and heaps of smoke.

The symptoms make me believe there was a cilinder or 2 not getting enough air, and probably making them run hot, even on boost.

So decided to change back before a hole was put through a piston.

ps.it did go nice though ;)

Yes I'd guess that at least #1 was suffering.

Rather than chucking the whole experiment, I reckon you just need to redesign the inlet a little more, move the PS reservior and bring the hose barb forward and triangulate the gap between a bit nicer.
nah, im not ditching the manifold, it will be shelved, and maybe do some more mods in the future...

As for the suggestion, dow50r has given some ideas aswell, and he also thinks its #1 that has the breathing problems.

extra crossover

Post by pridhac »

Heya,

I am about to embark on a cooler install like UDM's first setup.

I like to work with a back-out plan though, so don't want to cut my existing crossover pipe. Does any one have a spare laying around?

Or know of a wrecker that has 1HDT bits? (I am in Richmond NSW, near Penrith, Windsor)

Cheers

Chris
