Theres an alloy spacer within the light which can be adjusted/altered. Not sure exactly how it's done but might be worth looking into.

You bought "real" LF 240 HID's?????
If so, then, umm, Why? (just thinking of the dollar factor, thats all)
Two years ago when I first really looked at a pair of 35w LF 240 HID's, I too was highly disappointed, especially when me single modified 240 Blitz with a 50w kit 5000k in it blew the two real ones away. The owner was also blown away....

Try the clear wide spread lenses. They may help a tad.
May also need to adjust the bulb in/out to get the correct focal offset if it is too concentrated.

Black spots appearsing in a single XGT with a 55w kit installed:

With the wide spread cover lens:

These were done with one hand holding camera, the other hand performing miracles by holding XGT light and adjusting/sliding the heatsink with bulb.
Was mainly video'ed to show the black spots that appear due to the standard design of the H3 metal halide bulb. The top of them are just that --- way too long, which causes these black spots when adjusted outside of the main focal point.

We have LF HID's on the comp car.
I to was disappointed with there performance.
Firstly there only 4300k so they look yellowish against most other HID's.
Definetly too concentrated and didn't like them with the spacers. One day we will play around with spacing to see if we can make it better.
I couldn't justify the dollars for them at all.

Bruce, keep ya 240's. You'd be disappointed if you swapped
