Found this today regarding vehicle modification. That means everyone who has a lift (made up of either Body, suspension or Tyres) can not exceed 2" without having a lane change test. This means 80% of WA 4x4 would need to do a lane change test. Because the first thing people do is put in a 2" suspesion lift and bigger tyres. This would put you over the limit

Hmmm... I wonder if anyone has ever rolled doing the lane change test?
It would be like
Crunch.
Driver- "Bugger"
Engineer- "Err that would be a fail mate"
But seriously my lux is probably going to be a bit scarey swerving at speed after I do my SAS and make it a flexi biatch.

chris.
a couple of american production cars that were to be imported to aus were knocked back for failing this same test... my truck passed it on 37"s
Do you have sway bars on when you did the test??
You got a nissan patrol right ?? Shorty or long ???
Chris.
yep, short maverick, was about 98" wheelbase when I did the test.
No swaybars.
One thing to watch out for... Get some nice, firm, NON-ADJUSTABLE shocks. Because they like to do the test in a worse case scenario, maening that if you pass it, they'd like you to do it again with your shocks set as soft as possible. I was told this was to test how stable the car is if it was stolen while set up for off-road use??

Dont hold your breath..
So do they all adpot Qld's tight as a nuns nasty rules?? or Is Qld going to go soft on rules so you can do more shit???
I dont think it will happen....
I know but I can hope can't I
If they did introduce national codes then it would have to be more inline with what NSW/VIC have. But may require greater testing/engineering. ie lan change tests for all states not just WA and ACT.
i have a Calbah front end in my Rangie and a big lift and i know it's going to be fun attempting to get a WA rego sticker.
I have heard some scary stories and there have been quite a few roll overs with people attempting the lane change test but i know a few people who have passed the test with some pretty wild 4x4's.

Chris.
Hope is kewl....
But as I said, do you think Qld will go softer???
I dont, then how can you have national rules..
Theres not just 4wd stuff, theres truck max weights change in different states, theres bike rules, theres HEAPS... its a massive thing to do, probably why its taken 40 years to come around to..
I think its scarey, they could all go with Qld Rules and we are all fubar.
