G'Day all,
Yesterday on a fishing trip up the mountains I noticed a vibration on turning corners so I checked the hubs and found them loose.
Has anyone else done the bearings in their Feroza? I am wondering where you got them, how much they are likely to cost and were there any tricky bits to it?
I have done bearings in other cars before but not one with locking hubs.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Mine were replaced under warranty on the front left- you could wobble the wheel a good 10-20mm! (the funny part was it seemed to drive OK though)
I can Email the section from the manual on the front hubs- just PM me with your Email address. It's just under 3Mb so make sure your Email account can handle files that big (eg Hotmail won't)

Croz... check Daihatsu genuine parts first... I found with a clutch that the genuine article was about $90 cheaper than Repco aftermarket.
Man your car must have been driven by an old lady before you got it.... as soon as it saw some dirt it seems to be getting a few glitches... G

First thing i'd do is pull the hubs off and check they're OK...it's a pretty straight forward job...just need an allen key and a 10(?)mm spanner....also a pair of circlip pliers...but a screwdriver and a mate will do the same job for much cheaper than buying the tool.
Everything is pretty logical. If you're not confident, bring it over this Sunday and we should be able to sort it in under an hour...I found similar prob with the Zook when I got her. Heaps of degreaser, a bit of scrubbing at the rust, some new grease and she's now as good as new.
If it is actually the wheel bearings, I believe they are adjustable...so a bit of grease and a clean up should sort the problem...worth checking b4 you spend your hard-earned.

Well it was certainly the wheel bearings, but there was no way a clean up and some grease was gonna fix that.... I took a foto of the left one after what appeared to be half the Cox's river finished flowing out of the race. I'll put it up soon.

The hardest part of the whole job was working out the fact that the dick in the parts store i bought them from gave me the wrong inner bearings, they are 3mm too narrow. They looked exactly the same as the shit covered ones i pulled out but once i cleaned the crap off the old ones and put them side to side it was obvious. this is of course only after three hours of trying to adjust them to fit! Anyways, someone is gonna get an irate phone call this morning when their shop opens!!
If all goes well it should be done this arvo when i finish work..
