Parts found... thanks all.

G'day guys and girls,
I'm looking for a right hand lower ball joint for a 98 Daihatsu Sirion.
Do any of you Daihatsu people know where I'd get one less than Daihatsu's price?
Cheers Jas.

New - you have no choice.

Second hand try DaiAuto email link on their page.

Could also try through DaiClub - someone might have a source. Vidtha2000 works for DaiAuto....

Luck....

Thanks MM..
I sent Daiauto an email yesterday morning but no response as yet.
Hopefully they'll have something as genuine is over $300.
:bad-words: Ridiculous for a ball joint.

Yep I tried R.E.P.C.O (we know what that stands for don't we?) and they wanted nearly as much as genuine and won't have it for 4-5 days.

Pedders... nothanks.

DaiAuto responded and can supply a complete control arm at a reasonable price.
Thanks all.

I actually found genuine was cheaper than RIPCO - and that WAS a surprise....

From what I gathered about the Daihatsu parts situation, whilst according to press releases from Toyota there are a fair number of dealers supplying - in Vic at least there are two that CARRY stock, the rest just buy in as required and sometimes from interstate as they don't like dealing with their rivals.

When I was after an idler arm one dealer would rather ship from Sydney to Melbourne than buy from the dealer that had stock

May not have a bearing on price but ..........

Last time i got parts for mine(gearbox mount) the old guy at WARREN TOYOTA told me toyota were phasing out DAI-PARTS and i only got my mount because it was the same as a 96 model.
He also said he could not search for parts using VIN#

I always prefer genunie parts.
Repco/autobahn etc will always be cheap chinese crap.
Pedders gear used to be made by TRW (dont know if they have gone china yet).

They'll probably phase out parts as each model passes the 10 YO mark. I think it's law in Australia that spares have to be available for that time period- hence Holden supplying Daewoo parts after they folded. (Plus GM own both companies.)

I'm sort of glad to not own a Daihatsu now as parts in the future might be very hard to obtain (and the aftermarket support isn't very good.)

Yeah it is the famous one

They said it would create a weak point, so opted against it. :?

New genuine is $280 trade price, which isn't too bad.

I got i n touch with Daiauto and ordered a ball joint. I gave my credit card details and was assured I'd have it within 3 working days. That was last thursday. still no sign of it, so I tried ringing them today. I was on hold listening to crap melbourne radio for 20 mins before I gave up.(STD rates)
Then I checked my online statement and I haven't been billed for it yet.. I wonder whats going on? :?
I'll try the recyclers at archerfield as soon as I know whats going on with daiauto.
