just wanted to know if any one had lifted their flares to gain more tyre clerance . if so how much and how did you go about it

I lifted my front flares some years ago as I thought they were cutting my tyres. Twas the inner guard eh?
You need to drill the spot welds out and repair the rust that is bound to be underneath.
I then raised about 1.5 inches and just silastic sealed them back on and drilled three holes for 6mm bolts to secure them. One each end and one in the middle. Worked fine.
