Hey everybody,

I bought a stock Feroza SX II Wide-track in April last year,
Seeing I am a college student with a part time job i have finally saved some $ to do some mods. What would anybody recomend?

Your opinion would be great,

Best mod you could do to a feroza is to put some off road tyres on it. BFG all terrains are a nice compromise for onroad/offroad.. but mud terrains are better off road
I found with mine that the main problem i used to have was ground clearance at the front. I was always bottoming out on the IFS.
If you can afford it, get it lifted, and if you have more $.. put some bigger tyres on. Both will give you more ground clearance, but be aware of making the front too stiff if you wind it up. ;)

Bigger tyres will help lots off road, the down side is the Feroza's transfer ratio inst low enough, so off road - the gearing will suck. Wouldnt go past 31" on a stock Feroza.

BFG-AT's? Damn u roza drivers ARE soft :D

Keep watever tires you have on it at the moment. Find a cheap set of wheels, or splash out and get some new one's with a wider offset, and get the most aggressive Mud-terrain type tires you can afford, use them for offroad trips only and they'll probly last you a decade.

Sure its a pain swapping them around before and after a trip, but it saves a lot of tire wear :armsup:

soft.. thats a bit harsh. :)
I should point out that my fez currently has 31in MT's sitting on 8in wide F100-offset Sunrasias on it at the moment.. pushing the track 2in+ wider than normal :finger:

I was just suggesting the BFG-AT's because they are a HUGE improvement over road tyres (been there done that)... and you can usually pick up a 2nd hand set with legal tread for about $40each... ;)

That ok. Since I sold my Extreme trekkers' I've been stuck with AT's on and offroad :oops: . Nankangs though, had BFG's and they where rubbish on tar and off it.

And wanna know another secret? I haven't been properly offroad since march :cry:

But I'm saving for some Interco LTB's so that makes up for it I think :armsup:

eew... I threw my nankangs as far as i could... couldnt wait to get them off the car. I had the semi-road kinda tread tho.. maybe AT... and they just couldnt grip off road no matter what I did.
I live in bendigo.. so most of the places i go off road are clay. :)

Get the BEST muddies you can afford, 2nd hand if necessary. Lots of them come up in the for sale section.

Wind up your torsion bars enough to clear the new shoes and, depending on what year model you have (The later ones have less leaves in the rear spring pack), you can insert an extra leaf to give a bit of lift at the rear. Extended shackles, which are illegal, but RARELY picked up in any checks will give you a little extra lift and some extra rear travel.

You'll find Suzuki wheels will fit straight onto a Feroza, and stuf for/from them comes up pretty regularly.

As for engine stuff, the best is to ditch the horrible outlet manifold for a set of ectractors and if you can afford it, a 2" exhaust system.

Oh, and a bash plate for your transfer case, coz they're scarily exposed down there. Easy to make from a 3mm piece of aluminium, you find the specs on the WARFS website.

And as a preventative measure, wrap you engine and gearbox mounts with seatbelt webbing RIGHT NOW.

Otherwise you WILL break mounts and they are expensive.

What do you mean by wrapping them in seatbelt webbing... Wrapping that around the mount?

Yeah My mate got a fez and he's done a 2" body lift which was fairly inexpensive and soon to be doing a 2" suspension lift as well...

He's running 31's too. I'm running 31" Federal Mud Tyres, they're pretty cheap but they go great guns, i recommend them!

Must say I've been pretty happy with them. Wearing well, done probly 10k+ on them and still look new. Only used them offroad on sand, and mud. Obviously they have nothing on a M/T but they were miles ahead of the BFG A/Ts I used to have on road and off.

And how does he plan of raising a torsion bar front end ? Winding up the bars doesn't count as you simply loose droop travel, an area Feroza's are sadly lacking at the best of times.

right... so how do you lift the front without winding the bars??

Thats what I did, and now I lift the left front wheel off the ground a LOT.
I still have droop travel, but not very much (bout 1cm measured at the bump stops)
The back flexes great, but the front is stiffer than ever....:?

btw.. I'm another convert for the engine mount solution. Mine had a busted left engine mount when i got it... $30 at a wreckers for a used mount, some seat belt wrapped around it, and its been fine ever since. Strong as!
