Hi Pinion in Hilux

Post by jlux3012 »

Hey guys, I have aquired a 80 series Hi pinion front diff centre and want to put it into my 92 solid axle hilux, are they a straight swap over and will I be able to use my lockrite locker.
Also are the 80 series rears a Hi Pinion as well and can the same be done??

The hi pinion is a straight bolt into your 92 solid axle , 80 series is a 4.1 ratio
Your 92 Hilux ratio should have 4.3 diesel or 4.875 petrol unless you have already done a ratio change

Toyrex is right, the ratios will differ although it will bolt straight in. The 80 series rear is a larger centre and will not fit the hilux.

Could I be lucky enough that the ring and pinion gear set from my hilux centre fit the 80 series centre, can anyone tell me this.

no the gears can't be swaped from low to high pinion as the high pinion has reverse cut gears. I think Bunderra has 4.3 high pinion gears
