conversion...... TD42's look different GU or GQ

Post by ainzy »

hi all mick here, this is my first post but i been reading for a month or so by now... i have a quetion and it proably sounds dumb but askin a dumb question is better than makin a dumd mistake... i am currently in the process of a engine conversion, i own a '99 GQ patrol TD42 coil cab ute, and have just recently purchassed the wickedist motor i could find i bought kevin nott's turbo deisel motor out of his patrol... but there a subtle differences between them, the fans a different ( mine is factory standard deisel fan ) and the new one is different lookin ( ill try post pics ) it has swept back bits on it and one les blade,,, and the water pump housing is shorter but wider than mine... i checked out a mates GQ and me had same pump housing and fan as my ute, so i was wondering if it could be a GU motor with a petrol fan on it it also has what appears to be a factory lookin boost compensator... any info would be sweet cheers fellas.....................

ill try get pisc up

I replaced my fan (same as one on left) with a new fan (same as one on right) and it works better and pulls more air through.

well i thought that the seven blade one was a petrol fan ( i read the posts about overheating ) but it was on a deisel motor out of a comp ute so i thought it may have been off a GU TD42 it has a pretty steep angle on it moreso than the straight blade one
