hello and noisey gearbox

Post by rentonpeter »

hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum so a big hello to you all. ive pretty much driven my poor feroza into the ground over the past 9 months ive owned it. its a 1996 310 WT. bought it for $3000 knowing it had some oil consumption issues however the biggest problem im facing now is the gearbox rattles under load at aprox 3-5k rpm and some of it can be diminished by holding the gearstick. it still selects all gears really well. Was thinking its probably the shaft bearings giving up and was going to pull it down and replace them. Has anyone else done this and found the shafts are flogged out too or that it isnt the bearings being the problem?and if the shafts are worn can they be repaired or sleeved? thanks in advance!

Do a search and you'll find a post on my gearbox rebuild. Replaced bearings and four synchros to significantly reduce the noise.

Or try Redline Shockproof Lighteight gearbox oil- that will reduce the noise and improve the shift action.
