generally yes for a diesel (assuming diesel as you havn't mentioned motor at all)

there can be a few exceptions to that all depending on what motor you have and how high the boost is.

More air to heat up with same fuel = lower EGT

BUT, if the turbo is out of efficiency range, more heat = higher EGT.

Depends on intercooler efficiencty, boost compensator and turbo size.

Probably reduce, but not by much, unless you are buring close to the limit of the avaialble oxygen. If you are close to the limit, then yes, it will be a decent drop in EGT.

EGT's spike just south of stochiometic. Diesels stay below that point. Petrol's above it.

Yes it is a turbo diesel 1 KZTE engine. I itended to put a Tee piece in the rubber hose that connects to the waste gate diafram and fit an adjustable valve to vent off the pressure being sent to the waste gate. I want to increase it from 11 to 15 psi. Some more info about my vehicle I've just fitted a 3" mandral bent exhaust from turbo back including the dump pipe and it has eco-shot LPG injection. My goal is to get my EGT down as it will exceed 550 deg C after turbo while driving up hill on the highway under normal conditions. I have had no luck in finding out any information on stadard EGT's for my hilux and I beleive they may run hotter than 550 from the factory, if anyone has info on this subject it would be greatly appreciated.

Shift your EGT probe to before the turbo. Otherwise you're just guessing.
More boost will always lower EGT's, even up past 20psi with no intercooler.

However, those engines crack heads at normal power levels. Can you afford to blow it up?

lpg injection is the reason you have high egt's.
have it retuned dont mess around with it they dont like boost or high egt's

alot of places tune the lpg to rich to try and match there claims of decent power increases, on a stock motor all lpg can do safely is slightly increase econamy.

1KZTE is a safe motor in stock form, but I hear bad stories about the pre-comp chambers if you turn up the wick. Stock EGT is supposed to be very high on these already (720 pre turbo).
I never put a gauge on mine to confirm, but plenty of discussion on aus surf list.

i did it to my 1kz and was a waste of time i wound it back to 12 ish 13 again . all it did was wind the turbo there was no real power difference at all .

what you need is a dpchip ($1300) to go with it then you can adjust the fuel and everything too but get a pro to do it cos messin around with egt's can cause serious damage to your engine . i have heard its worth the price though

Thanks Peeko, do you know if it had any effect on your egt as I'm not trying for more power I just want to lower my egt.

nah no idea sorry i put an intercooler on mine and that helped with egt's . i guess its up to your budget and how much you wanna customize your car. i would assume your egt s should be a bit lower by uppin the boost a bit cos your not adjusting fuel.i think 15 is a bit high though i havent had any trouble with mine and i run 13

OK, I might try turning it up a little. So what intercooler did you fit I've been thinking about a Denco air to water kit.

have a look on http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/

i think darrie runs a ARE water/air intercoller on the 1kz in a surf. it will proberly perform a whole lot better than a generic barrel.

i got a air to air front mount intercooler from ebay ... 600x140x74deep it think. i adjusted the boost a bit to compensate from the loss in piping cos it ran about 9psi after i hooked it all up

all up it definitly made a difference though but not as much as i hoped i notice more torque more than anythin. i am happy with it though.
