Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience good or bad with the EBC range of brake pads?
I have been told to go the greenstuff but according to there web site it appears that the red stuff would be the go.
The vehicle in question is a GU 4.8 and is mainly used as a shopping trolley for the missus but the brakes are pretty average on a big heavy truck

I'm not sure about redstuff, but I doubt that it would suit due to cold performance.
Greenstuff.... there is greenstuff and there is greenstuff.
The 2000 series greenstuff pad, which is the true greenstuff compound is unbelievably good! You'll never fade them, the friction is excellent. the make no noise and they are fairly dust free. An interesting pad also in the respect that you can feel them initially come on if you brake cold. I don't have enough praising words for this pad.
The 6000 series 4x4 pad which is also also marketed and painted as a greenstuff.... well... don't waste your money in my opinion. They friction from them is just normal and they are suceptable to fade and will still dust up. I'd look somewhere else.

Interesting to hear that. 2000 SR-5 turbo diesel, dual airlockers, bit of a lift, some 15x8 sunnies, 32" bighorns, a few spotties, and a wireless, and a kiddie seat in the back.
I have EBC greenstuff in my street car no noise, alot better feel on the pedal and much improved braking.

x2, but when you get them hot they fade, well mine did when coming down the hill from Mt Hotham with no load in the car, scary when you have a 2 year old in the back and the wifes 6 months pregnant. Im not sure that the compound in the Bendix is still the same. As I understand it, the compound has recently been changed and is not as good as the old formula. This I found out through the brake distributor when trying to source/sort the problems and solutions with the EBC Greens.fatassgq wrote:Cheers for the replies.
I think at this stage I may just stick to the bendix. Easier to get hold of thru work anyway.
Only thing that puts me off is that I put a set of Bendix 4wd pads in a cruiser years ago and they where horrible. It seems that they have changed though as many swear by them them.

since they got rid of asbestos in brakes they have been had of different compounds for the last few years the reason for brake squeal, and lots of dust there are low dust but the they are a hard and tend to squeal, if you get bad squeal you can get stuff tp put on the back and slides of the pads to help prevent it and also get you discs machined or as least rub the glazing off with a sand paper in a criss cross pattern,
HZJ73, lifted,crawler gears, double locked, sitting on 35's
I always found in the GQ that OEM pads were best by far.. ferodo, ebc, Bendix (why they call them 4x4 pads NFI) ...

I have heard that they can be a bit dusty but I don't give a fuck as long as they work. Couple of guys I know have run em and say they work well. Was worried at first as it seems like they were a softer pad but the bloke told me they should handle up to 600+ deg. so sound ok.
When I eventually get round to putting the shitbox on the hoist I will see how it goes.
I am thinking of running some braided hoses too as I have heard they offer better pedal feel. I always thought this was crap overrated hype but a lot of reports later I am keen to try for myself.

the prices and brands I got today - some are doubled up, as I rang bout 10+ places... prices vary by upto $50 on same pads not listed, I didnt bother to write them down!!

I've got the TRW Lucas ones in the rear at the moment as I couldn't get any rear EBC 2000 series Greenstuffs. They squeel and it's really annoying. I've been given some material to put behind the pads to stop the vibration, but I haven't done that yet. The are the equivilents to the EBC green as I understand it. I cant really comment on the braking performance of the pad as they are only rears which don't do a lot in the grand scheme of things.
