Mickey Thompson Tyres

Post by NIK »

Im trying to find the ACTUAL size of a 35 claw, the only new tyres I could measure were 31atz and they were 29!
So would that mean the 35 is only 33?
Couldnt find there website and the only info I could find was 35"to mm not actual size.

The overall diameter sizes quoted on the website are just conversions from the sizes on the sidewall. The true sizes will be less.

My 37" bias claws measured under 36" when new

I measured some 315/75-16 MTZ's which measured up at 33" also instead of something around 35".

Yep found the conversion from inches to mm but unfortunatley they arnt true sizes. I would expect somewhere around 34 but like I said 31 only measured 29 wtf??
MaybeI should just ring and ask them to run a tape across a 35 radial for me?
Thanks for the input.

I haven't measured mine but my 38.5 inch Baja Claws are a bit bigger than my 38.5 Super Swamper SX's when put side by side.

The Interco website says the OD of the super swampers are actually 38.5"
http://www.intercotire.com/site30.php

So I guess my 38.5 Claws are a bit bigger than 38.5"????

Hope this helps....

Yes, but thats their own measurements, which according to others are wrong to start with. They arent going to say their 35's are 33 are they?

Rough measurement of my 35x12.5r15 Radial Claws on the Hilux measured from 9 oclock to 3 oclock on 10" rims is 34" with about 30,000km of use.

US people can't convert for crap anyway.

1 inch is meant to be 25.4mm most US people just use 25mm.

they also don't convert feet into metric either, so your properly getting their version of a 31inch metric tire.

that and simply you'll never get a proper sized tire due to production problems anyway same for rims they'll never be a true circle.

Im wanting to know as my engineers cert says 33s and I can get agood deal on new 35 claws. But then i,ll have to reengineer it so I dont want to go through all that trouble for a 35" tyre that only measures 33".
My 33" worn bfgs are about 31 1/2 atm.

It goes on whats marked on the sidewall - not what they measure.

I know that thats why Im trying to find out the actual size.
Its no point getting a GREAT deal on new 35s and reengineering it if they only measure 33. it would be easier to just buy a true 33 like maxxis and no need to reengineer if that makes sense?

i"ve measured half worn 38inch super swampers mounted on 15 x 8 steelies, off the vehicle, at 910mm { just 36 inches }. 2 inches short & they definetly hadn"t lost 2 inches off the tread.

steel, ive just measured some nearly bald 37 boggers which measure 35.9 and the spare was 36.9. on 10s. and some 33 tsls which were on 15x8s that were only an inch shorter. i think tsls differ hugely epending on rims.

the 35 bias claws i had measured 33.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

when i put my 33" claws on my old bus, i sat them next to my old hankook 33"s and the claws sat a good inch taller... mind you, the hankooks had worn down to bugger all...

The swampers i measured were"nt the ones with the tread coming around the sidewalls, { don"t know if they are TSL"s or not ]. I suppose rim width may effect a tires rolling diameter. My michelins measured pretty much the same on 5.5 inch splitties as on 8 inch sunnies.

Mine on a 10" rim were more like 36.5 when almost new

Hope nobody's quoting the height of the tyre when fitted to the car :?

measure the circumfrence and divide it by pie and you will get a accurate diameter measurement.

divide it by 25.4 for inches.

In general i think most of the MT range measure small but from experiance there are not many manufacturers that have a genuine size anyway.

But for referance my old 38.5 Claws measured approx 39.5" on a 15x10 rim.
