    Damo,

You have been told correctly. A body lift is a necessity for a TF to put bigger rubber under. The angle grinder is the second step to put 33's under without rubbing.

I have posted previous info on this some time ago as this is exactly what I had to do to place 285/75 16's (33 equivalents) under my TF. Well worth it though. You need the larger rubber to takle the tougher sites.

Re a 3" lift.. if you want to keep your truck legal, check with an engineer first. My local engineer had no trouble with 2" body lift but would not touch a 3" lift without major checking. Comes down to dollars and cents that you want to spend.

A 2" lift, a few centimeters of guard cut away and re welded is all you need.

    Cheers

    I HAVE A 3 INCH LIFT RODEO WITH 33'S ON 15'S

    IT CAN BE DONE.

check out calmini lift kits. snake racing in sydney sell them but i got it cheaper from a company in WA before snake racing had them.

if you want one i've got the complete kit second hand coz my ute is now a solid axle front.
