any help please need it fixed for a roadie

redid my passenger cv oil seal, on my toyota 60 2h
but the bastard still leaking , the guy i bought it off was rought when he did it i tryed to smooth it out and put some silco around the out side of it
try help but noluck any ideas?

chances are your inner axle seal is gone and leaking oil into the swivel housing, the felt seal is only designed to keep grease in not oil, so get yourself a swivel hub rebuild kit (about $70) and pull the lot out and replace the inner axle seal and the wiper seals then you should be right.

As bigcam said there isn't meant to be any oil in your CV's, It's leaking through from the diff. Unfortunately the surface on the inner axle where the seal runs has usually got a groove cut in it where the seal runs. If that's the case you will have to change your inner axles. Again unfortunately sometimes you can't separate the inner axle from the CV so you will have to change the whole CV.

If you want to just dodge it up for a road worth just drain the diff oil and clean the swivel housings. Just remember not to run it in 4WD until you have refilled it though.

iv replaced the the inner oil seall, yeah i'll drain it for now untill i get the roadie done get a hole new cv later on

Sorry mate don't want to miss lead you into buying new CV's if you don't have to. Pull the axles out first and check the running surface of the inner seal. If it does have a groove in it then you will have to replace the inner axle. The axles are relatively cheap compared to a whole new CV and it is possible to seperate the two, You just have to hit the inner CV race while holding the axle in a vice. I have however come across axles shafts that will just not seperate from the CV (no matter how hard you hit it).

If your axel has a groove in it you don't have to buy a new axel you can buy a speedy sleeve from a bearing shop fit a new seal and all will be sweet

X2 and if they don't come in that size get some of that liquid steel(Devcon?) rough it up a bit around where the seal runs mix it up give it a wipe around that area, Let it go off then lanish it back with some emry tape

yeah i forgot about speedy sleaves use them on the GQ rear axles:)

Don't quote me on this I'm only going from memory here but I don't think you can speedy sleeve it, The splines are larger than the running surface so you can get the sleeve past them. But i'm not 100% on that.
