Will a A/C Kit for a TB42 fit a TD42?

Post by GQRob »

I have a Nissan AC kit for a GQ tb42 (new in box, was for my old car) and am in the process of buying a GQ TD42 vehicle that has no AC :(

Will most of the kit be ok, does anyone know parts that are different? ie is the compressor the same, pipes the same, mounting brackets...? I'm hoping I can get away with most of it and just get the few parts that are different from a wrecker.

Thanks for your help.

the compressor, pipes, and that stuff is close enough to be the same. i have a TD42 where a TB42 used to live, and the full aircon system was retained in the vehicle without depressurising it.
Sorry but can't remember if the brackets to hold the compressor to the engine were the same. might have had to turn a hose a bit to go around the alternator or something similar, but i would be confident that in the main your kit will be fine (except compressor brackets unknown)

Sounds good, yeah I expect something to be a little different on the front of the engine as I think the main pulley is different (trying to remember my old car). When I get around to doing it I'll update this post.

Thanks

I hadn't thought of that angle, ppl who have replaced TB42 with TD's. Good one.

Im re-fitting Air con back onto a TD42 SWB I bought

for the TD42 there were 3 different kits that were put onto them, and each kit had a different wiring loom for it

there was

OE (Nissan)

OE (Local Nissan Dealer Fitted)

Aftermarket Kit fitted by auto electricians

Some models used flare fittings and some used O'ring fittings

Hope that helps
