CENTIPEDES OR JUNGLE TREKKERS

Post by Daisy »

in QLD :D :D

Im lookin at gettin some 34 inch simex tyres for my patrol

Now... Im leanin towards to the jungletrekkers due to the fact they are not directional.

But the centipedes look the shit

Just for most combinations of mudslinging and rockclimbing.

FYI my patrols a 3 inch coil lift with 2 inch body lifts.

Opinions and comments please :D :D

Regards
Tom

Unless you are competing, I think it comes down to personal preference. They are both heavy duty bias ply, both are aggressive, both will do an awesome job on the trails (especially on a fullsize patrol) but only the JT2s can be born again by regrooving (cut). I run JT2s on my mav wagon and my Camolux, got them for a good price, and when they wear out, I will get them cut and get another life out of both sets.

JT2s. Lock it in Eddie...

JT2s are GREAT, true, and non-directional is important some times, they handle surprisingly good on the road!!!

ETs are THE GREATEST though  ! +1" also helps :)

What do you use to regroove the JT2's ? router? Grinder? and how deep can I go? 34x10.5's

Certain tyre shops can do this, using a special tyre grooving iron.

Yeah you could use a grinder, but be careful of the noxious fumes and the mess that this method will make.

There is a lot of rubber in these tyres, once the gaps disappear between the blocks you could safely regroove to a depth of 10-12mm. The grooving irons have a depth gauge you can set to ensure depth control.

Looks very similar to the tread pattern used on german military heavy vehicles in the '40s.

Tom,

isn't yours a 2.8? Will a 2.8 turn them? A mate had one and had to put low transfercase gears in it. Yours may be different. A locker would be a good investment! The mav goes great when i have just the all terrains on & twin arb's. BUt if it's wet i am stuffed, then i put on the claws. MMM more money down the

Sorry GQ, but common consensus tells us that Boggers are "the shit" when it comes to asthetics...

So i think that only leaves you to pick function over form - which from the look of things will be the JT's.

cheers :)
