Convert Manual Disco tdi to auto

Post by Disco1Modified »

Just curious if the zf gearbox from a v8 will bolt straight into my manual?
What else needs to be considered?
Shifter.
Oil Cooler (and pipes).
What about the bell housing?
I presume the Transfer case just bolts on and there is no change in drive shaft lengths etc.

I have a 97 disco with an R380 gearbox
The auto is from a 3.9 V8 ZF 1502428 1043 010 741 and 4 HP - 22

He got a proper answer. No.

To fit it he would need to change the bellhousing and convertor, and get the flexplate and starter housing/ engine backplate to suit his engine.

what year was the auto from, the later disco autos have shift interlocks , I am just fitting one to my 110, having to remove the wiring and relays etc from the disco loom to make it all work in the 110. I could do away with it if I used an early transfer and shift lever but I like the idea of not being able to shift the boxes into neutral without the ignition on, might help stop it getting stolen one day.

110 with an auto would be a great convert

Seen a few so conversion shouldn't be too hard

Looking forward to it, just a bit of work to do the electrical stuff, and to make it all look factory. The NAS parts are expensive.
