You're building it mate - make the opening bigger
Yes you could make the opening bigger, but this thing is BUILT for comps, and Strength is a major issue. The more bends you put in (so you can get in ) the weaker it will be. The whole objective of a COMP TUBE BUGGY is to get it as light as possible and yet retaining strenght. If you want something easy to get in and out of then buy a Roles Royce!!!!!!
Hell, i am probably a couple of inch's taller than Sam and carrying an extra 30 kilos of Lard and i will be building mine basically the same.
I couldn't care less if its slightly hard to get in, as long as it PROTECTS me in a Roll over i don't care!!
Another view of mine is that the harder it is to get out the more of a reason i have to stay in and wheel even more!!!

build one with a reclining seat and a bar fridge... you'd never have to get out.
Got most of the frame triangled out today. Got most of the steel in there although I could still add a bit more to totally tie it all together. Starting to get a bit heavy now - it weighs 156KG but feels very solid.
i totaly agee on strengh as for rollin over a bit bigger opening mite not be a bad thing in case of a bad accident. is sam's rig goin to have any sort windscreen fitted ie rino glass or perspex. or just tube bars .
Planning on getting up first thing tomorrow and welding it all up (only tacked together ATM) and try to get the motor/auto/transfer sitting in there although got to bolt all this together first and we still got a bit of mucking around to do yet to adapt the P76 motor to the ZF auto but its almost there. Probably put the lower links back in as well so that the axles sit in the right place and then its onto the steering box and panhard (which I will do the same as my mog rover) and rear A frame.
Should be driving by Christmas --- NOT cause I got to go on holidays for a week and a bit

No windscreen for now although if im going to do the registration thing it will have to have one and lots of other stuff but I will cross that bridge when the time comes. It wont be hard to put a windscreen it it though.

I read somewhere on here about a guy that went for a roadwothy with a cracked windscreen.. they said it wouldn't get one with the cracked windscreen, he said what about without it, they said yeah, so he pulled it off, had no windscreen, and was given the roadworthy.. I can't see how that happened, but I read it on here somewhere, so it MUST be true.

I think he is using standard rover links, so they bolt right onto the housings, and he has modified axles in the housings, which are probably a lot stronger than stock toyota, plus he gets a full floater rear, with disc brakes using the rangie stuff.
*disclaimer, i may be wrong, not to mention that he had those axles already sitting there!!!
I wanted to base the whole thing on a stock range rover. So that in theory I could supply sombody with a chassis and they could bolt all their range rover stuff into it.
And yes the rover axles are about 100mm wider (I think)
sam what sort of $ would it be worth to build just a chassie to suit another style of rig / toyots / nissan and so on . just a rough idea. mate that rig is lookin sweet .
Got the motor and seat and steering wheel and pedals all sitting in their correct position. Now all I got to do is weld them in. Also bolted the axles back in.
