2h oil gauge wacko and engine cuts out

Post by couped351 »

Howdy fairly new to forums so here goes.. Just replaced old 2h in HJ75 with 2nd hand goer out of HJ60 the problem is oil pressure gauge goes to max pressure on start up starts to fall just before engine cuts out 5-10 seconds.

Its got plenty of oil, sounds and runs well with control rod disconnected oil gauge still rises to max top and then falls to nothing.

Any help, hints, ideas will be great as this is daily driver.

There is a oil switch and a oil pressure gauge on the engine, you might have them around the wrong way.
The engine will cut out in 5 if no oil pressure.
are you using the sender from your motor as later on the pressure sender and switch might have been in the one unit.

hopes this helps

get a second oil pressure guage on there to make sure the oil is actually moving the whole time.

Very close rangie turns out the small lead from main loom to oil switch and sender is wired backwards on HJ60 (two wires swaped location in 3 pin plug). Why toyota did this is beyond me .Took longer to work this out than swap motors.THANKS HEAPS FOR YOUR INPUT.
