Who has tryed the Birfield Eliminator Kit
Replacing the rear axles and thinking that i should make the front stronger at the same time
Is anyone using the birfield eliminator kit that changes the outer axles to use the dana 44 u-joints instead of the ball type joint that is standard

27 spline longs are much stronger
even heat treated longs are stronger than the birfield eliminator kit.
as guts said, there have been people that have broken the kits in positions that standard CV's would have held up.
they are a waste of time and money.

Spit my last breath
if you ran the birf eliminator kit and then the bling axles and the CTMs it'd be stronger, but it would cost you heapsRUFF wrote:Stock CVs have been known to be stronger than the Birf Eliminator kit.bubs wrote:the 30 spline long field super set is a stronger setup over the eliminator kit.
honestly its a 15 year old solution.
Go the longfields all day!
hands and mums dont count!!!
Ok so looks like www.locktup4x4.com.au sells them but......
So i should get:
30 spline chromoly super set (looks like it come with the inner axles)
4340 chromoly inner hub gears
and while i am pulling it down i might get the Marlin Crawler designed Heavy Duty Front Inner Axle Seals
Is that all i need
Excuse the ignorance but Isn't the spline count set by what diff you have
if my diff is standard say a 27 spline how does a 30 spline fit
Doesn't grinding of the housing for proper fit weaken it

That is exactly what you need. The reference to the 30 spline and 27 spline is the count of splines going intro the birfield not the diff. The 30 spline super set is the strongest toyota axle upgrade available. And the amount of grinding that is rarely needed doesnt effect strength. Gettingboth of these is also a good investment-LuxyBoy wrote:Ok so looks like www.locktup4x4.com.au sells them but......

each, i will let bulldoggy confirm
but if you have ever broken these out in the bush it is a major pita for the day cause not many people carry these as spares. (i had another forum member call me at 2am on a sunday morning asking if I had a spare knuckle cause they broke the studs on a night run - he had a very long night)

Hey guys Bubs is right the price is each when on the site on the first steering page it does say each but it doesnt on the stud pay that will get fixd sorry for any cnfusion there.
You only need 4 per side the top 4 they take all the load from the steering and are the ones that break.

at what point do you need to start bracing the rear diff houseing again twist (not to protect from impact bending, but twist from torque ?? )
I know I ripped several tin can Zuk housings up in this way .. so by the time you need alloy axles .. is it time to do the housing as well ?
