going to purchase front and rear any one had and dramas with these?
I as well as 8 others that I know have one in the front diffs of GQ's and have had no major worries, other than having the dowls and springs breaking once in mine(repair kit's only $30 inc postage).
The only thing that would be good, would be able to turn them off for when driving up a beach for example would be handy, but certainly no big deal.
You can also turn under power going up hills still, which can be an advantage.

i've got these lokka in the front and rear of my truck, they've been installed for approx 2yrs, sorry to say guys but i think the front is the biggest waste of time ever. The rear is ok, although makes driving around town pretty antisocial, chirps the tires a fair bit. Can be scary in the rain in SWB.
The front is terrible in my opinion. I'm getting rid of it. I find I can't drive bush tracks at speed, can't make tight turn arounds, can't drive any side slopes when slippery, poor on sand. Front I would definitely speed the extra to get a air locker next time.
Installation is easy, 2hrs a diff and you'll have time to spare.

i can see the issue with the auto locker, in slippery shit where there is the equivalent of f*uck all traction it wont be enough to slip the gear, so it will try and slip, nothing a rope, some good driving or a winch cant stop though...

Mine is a Lock Right from the States and at the time I paid something like $435 to my door.
I don't think 4wd systems locker is any different.
Honestly, for the money you cannot go wrong.
I loved my auto locker and yes you have to change your driving style a bit to suit.
The auto locker is really an auto unlocker.
To turn you just back off, it's load on the diff that helps keep it locked.
The very few times that you'd need to unlock the diff to get around an obstacle, get of your arse and back a hub off!
What traction you gained for the money to me was great.
You see alot of posts where people want to know what to get with there $1500, a locker or winch.
I reckon get both.
An auto locker for $500 and a 9000lb Warn of Ebay to me is the way to go.
Have a look at the ratios of the XD9000 and the 9.5xp and they are the same.
Wack a 6HP motor on the XD and what have you got?
The 9.5 xp has the fastest line speed under load.
The pro's against the con's are alot greater.
That's for me anyway.
Anyway i'd still have auto locker if I didn't get the Air locker with centre and 4.3 gears cheap.

The idea that you can just unlock your hubs is great, except I have auto-locking hubs that I can force locked, but can't force unlocked. It's locked or auto. =(

For a un-educated fool like me the "cheap" auto lockers become very expensive once a 4wd specialist has chucked his tax on it. Not taking into acount the compressor a air locker was not much more for me.

But the cheapest I could get it fitted for was $500 each end.

Sorry this isn't a comment on the lokka, but to whitemav re $1000 an end for auto locker. I investigated an ARB air locker at the Bris 4x4 show in April and it was going to cost $1980 for a front, fitted with compressor. I also spoke to TJM about a Prolocker and i believe they are slightly more expensive. Thee were "show special" prices on a 2005 GU wagon.

In the end I got a airlocker fitted for a good price, and am happy with it.
If I wasnt a automotive retard, I would have got a $500 lokka and fitted it myself, or got one of my mates to fit it for a couple of slabs.
Auto lockers are fine for most applications "providing" the person who fits them does it correctly and checks and/ or adjusts the tolerances correctly. Some guys just chuck them in and winge why they are shit.
