ok so ive bought some parabolic springs 75s for the front which are fitted and look like they are going to work well ,also got some 75 rear parabolic springs too and fitted them but had to move the front hanger forwrds 2"to keep the diff in the same spot ,but what i need to know now is does my rear shackles have too much angle ,i was thinking about moving the shackle hanger back about 1-1.5" what do you guys think???
there is nothing wrong with that or hulsty's shackle angle. As long as it handles fine then that is perfect.
Everyone goes and puts longer shackles in there, but all it does is give a bit more lift. It's not until you put longer main and wraps in do you get the full benefit. As long as your axle can compress to the stops before the shackle gets completely horizontal that is good, because otherwise your springs will warp to go any higher.
with the shackles the way they are there you will be getting max benefit from the the spring length/shackle combination on droop, with the limiting factor now being shock length.
the more shackle angle you have the softer the ride will be too. all these guys getting longer (read - vertical) shackles also get harsher bumps, and castor problems. with the longer leaves the castor should come back to normal-ish when combined with the shackles
the only bad thing is that any leaf set up that flexes really well, will flog bushes out faster than you can buy them due to the difference in angle between spring and shackles/chassis eyes at full flex
Just thought i'd share an update with everyone of whats possible with really long main and wrap leaves. These are 60 rears where 75 fronts are supposed to be. Working on getting shocks that will let me do this on the tracks! Got a little more left in it to i reckon
