Diesel Gas....Any One Done?

Post by dano80 »

Looking to add Gas to my diesel GQ. Obviously this should help my overall fuel bill from what I hear. Is it worth the money spent? Also is there that much power to be had from a conv. (Was thinking to add Extractors and a complete system to it eventually)

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Dano.

As tomo has pointed out, plenty of info on here. Search function works wonders.

To answer the question, i'd save up and get a turbo, then get gas if you still need it. Most workshops will probably say the same.

I agree. The gas works well on a diesel but works far better on a turbo diesel. The gas enables a more complete combustion of the fuel, but with limited air available on a NA engine the improvement is also limited. You may get say 10-15% improvement in power. A Denco turbo might give you say 30% improvement in HP & 40% in torque. You then fit gas onto the turboed diesel and you can easily achieve another 20% on top of that again - as you now have plenty of air in & out.
