30's or 31's?

Post by matsmad »

Lookin at putin new tyres on the mrs zook after our wedding  currently has 235/75/15 with 3" springs and 1" ext shackles. Want to know what difference would be in how heavy steering would be between 30x9.5 to 31x10.5 and I would be doing a 2" body lift with the latter option. :D
06 Grand Vitara Prestige, 2" lift, Kumho A/Ts, ARB winch bar, snorkel, spotties. Also a Regal 2150 LSC Volva Penta 350 gsi duoprop, and a kayak ;-)

ahhhh true love.... a wedding... honeymoon... and errr decent rubber of course! :P

I reckon the "weight" on the steering will be more noticable from the type of tread... not so much with the size 30" or 31"

cheers

IMHO 31's require 2" BL to clear without doing lots of cutting/hammering of front guards/firewall.

Also, rim offset becomes a bigger issue at 31. The offset rims required to clear chassis/shock mounts etc with a 10.5" tyre will be what makes the steering heavy.

You have a fair amount of spring lift though, so 2" bumpstop spacers will achieve the same result as a 2" BL in terms of bodt clearance.

Apparently QLD cops are VERY knowledgeable about what's legal and what's not.

I have a cop livin across the road and he loves it with 30's
It is also a daily driver for my mrs. Also, would 31's be cheaper than 30's cause they are more common tyre?

It depends on where you live and where you drive the car. Both my cars scream defect (illegal not neccesarily unsafe) and cause I don't go doing hot laps down the local hangouts I don't get picked on.
