Do the pajeros go as well as landcruiser?ino 4x4 comes down to driving but are the nh swb pajeros as capable as landcruisers??

well depends the cruisers have the solid front axel.. more flex to generally keeping wheels on the ground but then again it is a toyota...
pajeros can be very capable cars depends what sort of driving you want to do..
not sure on the petrols but my 2.5td revs at 3000 to do 100kmp/h and im pretty sure thecruisers getbigger engines..

landcruisers and pajeros r in different classes all together u cant compare really landys have solid axles and paj's have ifs so landys with afew mods can go to hard and extreme stuff where the paj goes from easy to medium and if u do alot of mods it can go hard but thats about it ifs lets it down.

After seeing some SWB Prado's in action I decided to bu the Paj Brilliant on the road and as standard the Prado's suspension is pretty poor.
When I say Prado I mean coil sprung SWB Crusiers that look like Bundera's
Funky, If you have only done Medium tracks with your Paj, get out and try some more!

swb cruisers were bj40 and 70, the 73 was mwb and 75 lwb troopy. the bundy has the coils, the swb mwb and lwb has the leafs generaly and the pajeros major down fall is the IFS as stated. my pick of em would be the bj70 rv, coily deisel. very rare to find a good one that still works in original nick. but the live fronts help alot if you wanna do some sirious offroad and modding for height and bigger wheels. IFS modding is more xypensive unless u wanna reck some cv's pretty quik.

i have a 93 swb jtop paj. 3ltr. on 33s mine was performing better than my mates swb 70series crusier (leaf sprung) on 33s. i was doing hard yakka trips with guys in crusiers on 35s and most of the time getting as far as them. did the bodylift and put 35s on, i was going as far if not further than them. cvs are a weak point on pajeros... but if you drive accordingly they last ages. i blew 1 cv in 4years. and i punished my truck.
capability wise, id say they are close if not the same.
comfort wise, id say pajero by a mile
driveline strength id give to the crusier, just.
engines, well the 2.5dt of the pajero arnt knowen for being reliable, and toyotas usually are, so toyota there.
pajeros are lighter.

and cost of lifting goes to? what did you have to do to get 35's under yours without scraping?
coily cruisers and paj's are cumfyer by far, mate has an 80s coily that is a mile cumfier then a leafd 60s but any cruiser with springs can be flexable and comforatable with the right spring set up, u just gota figure out what that is, and which modles springs are re-useable.

mate of mine has a 86 swb with 2.6 motor. 2i body lift 2i suspension lift with lwb springs and xtended shackles. with 33i mudies and he goes anywere the gq's and cruisers on 35's with less fuss. often does things they can't and on all the trips i've bin on with him has only punctured a fuel tank. his car is awsome.
were as my other mate with a bj70. on 33's. his car has to be driven like it's stolen to go the places the paj does with ease, and it's rougher slower and sufers more breakages.

when i put the 33s on i did the balljoint flip, cut the bumpstops wound the torsions in the front. fitted lwb lifted kings in the rear. i also had to trim the bumper ends slightly and massage the rear of the wheel arch part of the guard with a sledge hammer. still rubbed slightly on up travel but not enough to rip the tyres to pieces.
when i fitted 35s, half worn 35 baja claws, i fitted a 2'bodylift and removed the bumper corners. barly rubbed at all.

Cruisers have big diffs so a Paj on same size tyres will go further in rutty situations. They also have a great big leaf pack hanging beneath the axle.
Paj CV's are not to bad Sam! If you'v only broken 1 and i've not broken one I'd say there pretty good as far as IFS CV's go.
As for Toyota Motors... Heard of the 2LT......? lol

2lt come in the bunderas with 4 coils and little diffs weaker 4wd bits, bunderas are the original what turned into prados
what about the normal 70 swb and the 73 /74mwb cruisers with tough 3f motors and good diesel 4cyl 3b 13b and 1pz 5cyl motors ,thats it for aus the rest of the world still get the 6 cyl diesels and 4.5 petrols which make any paj pizz

Well I used to have a FJ40 on 32" tyres and had LSD rear, it was a capable truck but damn uncomfortable and heavy on fuel, and crap brakes when ever you got them wet, bought a Jtop and that would go far more places than the cruiser, now have the SWB hard top and that is luxury with suspension seats, running 265/75 16s which are pretty close to 32' tyres and the places I have been in the Paj I wouldnt have got there in the cruiser..
