They are roughly 1k, and are xrayed after welding for defects...made of special steel....if they were so easy to make, there would be no market for them....if you bend a steering box sector shaft, you are up for $850 for a new one, and when the relay rod is on a descent angle at std height, that doesnt help....therefore a high steer stops balljoint bindup and allows longer shocks, less bump steer etc, but this is dependant on the panhard bar being on thesame angle as the relay rod, check out Reeces picture...when suspension moves, both rods move thesame amount and there is no bump steer.

Now look Slee Off-Road Hi-Steer Arms and the first section of writing and it says at the bottom
This is not intended as a steering upgrade for street driven vehicles.

You came here and asked for advice then proceded to try and shit on Jmac who makes a very good product that has been used extensively without a single failure or issue. Then you started calling people names.punked wrote:Thank Andrew mate. Sorry about all kids on this site.
Sorry but im confused Who is the kid Im pretty sure its you that needs to grow up
Punked, i undertand you want to do it on the cheap, its all good when you can spend the coin on 24 cases of Fusions and feel good about the saving, but if you run over one of my kids because it breaks, i will have to give you an Irish 6 pack. (ancles. elbows and kneecaps)
They say that hind site is 20/20 vision, the last person you want to have looking at your limo is a Coroner, work some O/T and buy one. The consequence of a failure is not worth the risk....i know your good, but we r talking possible jail and a lawsuit by grieving families vs 1k....i know this is worst scenario, but we r talking on the road and steering...

Mate on a serious note, when it comes to this sort of stuff, own design really isnt going to cut it. manufacturers of this stuff have put alot of thought into the engineering and design of these components. Unless you have all the proper testing equipment etc i would save the $$$ and buy one. Not saying your not capable of making it im sure you are but explain that to DOT when you get pulled up for it. But for the safety of yourself and other people i would buy one.

high steer
have you all tried yuri4x4.com. I reckon the 6 shooter high steer is the way to go. The only hold up would be cost.

Re: high steer
The fact they fit a LH drive Hilux and not an 80 series would cause a few hold ups as wellG.F.R.D wrote:have you all tried yuri4x4.com. I reckon the 6 shooter high steer is the way to go. The only hold up would be cost.
Hi steer for 80s
How many people would be interested in High steer arms for an 80. I have a mate who has CNC lathes and mills and could make them up out of billet steel.
I think the design would be to make a new top swival housing bearing locating pin and use cone washers to prevent movement that extends forwards the same distance as the bottom. The first one would be tested to destruction to check for strength.
Any one interested, not knowing the price, but I would assume it would not be too great as once the program has been written it should be easy to knock them out.
