Which auto do i have??

Post by mudduck »

Hi,the auto in my 95 jack keeps flashing check trans.I took it to a auto trans place and they told me the fault codes that came up were for the shift solonoids and the band apply solonoids.I was told that the box would need to be rebuilt to a sum of $3300.I spoke to another transmission place that does fourby's only and he said some jackaroo's were fitted with a toyota a340 auto box and these solonoids are a easy fix and the box isnt buggered.Does anybody know how to tell the difference between a holden box and this a340 box??

There are two auto trans used.
One is the 4L30E the other is the A340H.
The A340H is identified by its tag I.D ...... 30-80LE on the build plate.

get a wire brush onto it... it shouldbt be "to far gone" as its not in a spot that it should wear down as such...

A340 trans has one pan only and the 4l30E has two pans if they said it had a code for the band control solenoid sounds like a 4l30E (the very expensive one) just get some one to take the pan of first and cut the filter open if it's clean change the solenoids first, It is always suss though when you have mutiple trans codes could be and earth problem/computer problem also..
