Locking Hubs GU II
Locking Hubs GU II
Question again thats prob been answered elsewhere (i looked couldent find anything)
Last night this squeek/ticking noise developed last night while doing some offroading i dident notice till i was finished, today when i went to wash the car i noticed oil on the front passenger side rim...when i took the plastic cover off i noticed that 2 bolts had fallen out and 2 where about to, upon checking the other side they were loose as well.
So 2 questions; did the 2000 GU II ST come with manual locking hubs (i think their after market ones)
Having these loose and leaking oil...would it have caused any damage.

Re: Locking Hubs GU II
you want to fit up a set of manual hubs off a GQ.
Big GQ off here has them forsale sometimes
failing that put a wanted ad up, theres several wreckers on this forum and all are very trustworthy.

or email em, I'll upload it for ya.
Bit of both...technicaly its my first car. and it was either this or a discovery...but ive been in 2 of them when they rolled...so im not convinced on them.
At the moment im getting a 3" lift and the 285's, snorkel should go on soon and the lights will be finished tomorrow...then the rest of the radio and electrical gear goes in. Thats my starting plan...then some lockers and i was sugested getting some transfer gears.
Ultimatley im just having fun in it and thinking of ideas as they come.

Learn to drive it before spending big. Tires and good suspension will get you a LONG way in a std GU.firestick wrote:At the moment im getting a 3" lift and the 285's, snorkel should go on soon and the lights will be finished tomorrow...then the rest of the radio and electrical gear goes in. No need for lockers or transfer gears, your better off learning without aids and you can learn your limits much better, and will be a better driver for it in the end.
YMMV.
Turns out i was wrong...this hubs were a totaly different problem...i worked out that the rubbing noise is my Hand Brake Backing Plate rubbing against the rest of the unit.
Would there be any problems in bending the backing plate out a bit...or would it haved move with a good reason...it doesent look to bent...but the space between the front bit and the backing plate is varied.
