Got some u-beaut axles to install and am unsure of the process due to having 26 spline internals. I know I need the side gears from a rear diff. I have a rear diff centre with an Air Locker :) , will this bolt straight in or do the centres normally spin opposite directions? :?

If it doesn't suit the front I'll just use it in the rear so it won't go to waste :armsup:

The rear arb set up will go straight in the front.

stripped those diffs down to bare housings this arvo, you shoulda seen the rust inside the swivel hubs!!! must have been sitting in a creek for a few weeks. :roll: all good though, will clean up fine :cool:

The rear air locker should go straight in, but wont it be 3.7 ratio? Will the NT CW&P interchange with the WT or is a whole center swap?

That's what I'm unsure of, can I swap the whole centre or just the locker? Both diffs are WT so 3.7.

sorry to hijack, but i'm about to do the exact same thing.
has anyone swapped the side gears in a front 22spl airlocker with the ones from a rear 26 spline to fit crmo's? pretty sure i read somehwere on here it was a straight swap...

Im bout to do this, but am a little worried about pulling the airlocker apart. I downloaded an exploded parts diagram, and I've pulled my standard rear centre apart to fit an auto locker before, is there much difference? Anything extra I should worry about/look out for?
Or should i just pay some apprentice at ARB 70 bucks an hour and let them worry about it?
All the gear, No idea...

I bought a front ARB locker just before these CrMo axles became available so when they did the first thing I did was contact ARB to see if the 26 spline side gears are available seperately and if they are a straight swap and they said YES on both counts. :armsup: :armsup:
My diff experience (apart from changing heaps of them) is: fitted two mini spools and an ARB and was easy enough so I don't think it's gonna be difficult to change the side gears..

I didn't ask.. It'll be a while before I need them so I don't need to worry about it just yet. :lol:
I thrash my car but I'm not hard on it (mechanical sympathy) so even when the front is locked with MT 117 Extremes I don't think it will be breaking too many cv's.

Just to drag up my old thread

Got the axles and am finally fitting but have run into dramas

CV won't fit through the knuckle.

Rebuild the knuckle joint and know diff ball sits high in the knuckle meaning even a standard CV won't fit in?? Have I fitted the king pins wrong.

Chromo CV's won't go through the knuckle - you have to remove the knuckle to fit them.

Yes, it sounds like you have something installed incorrectly, but without looking at it it's hard to tell what.

are chromo cv's and axels available for narrow tracks?

No. You'd have to get the inner axle shortened. Probably cheaper to get a WT front axle housing.

Uuuummmm nope, that's the right way. Other wise steering arm would be fighting with the springs. But you made me think.
