yep. easy to blame the tool rather than the tradesman huh.

mate, have you considered your driving style? i've driven stuff in a 75 series that guys have broken gear on driving much stronger drivelines.

are you giving it the boot while coming down hard on to spinning wheels?

I'm sure longfields are worth it but anything can be broken if you're not drivng to suit the terrain

I believe they have a lifetime breakage warranty and after you've replaced a bunch of stock CV's you could have brought 30 spline longfield superset and avoided a lot of trackside repairs/vehical downtime.

So yes, i'd say they're worth it ;)

Yes they are worth it. Yes they do have a life time warranty, if you set them up correctly. For example the axle and cv need to be installed into the axle housing as one piece. You don't want to install the axle first and then install the cv. If you do it this way you cant be sure the axle went all the way into the cv and in gauged the c-clip. This breakage is very obvious because it brakes at the machined c-clip groove and you can also see that the cv didn't leave any indication on the spline past the c-clip groove.

I too broke many cv's over only a few trips. I then upgraded to Longfields and haven't had a problem since.

what do people know of the cv's that marks adaptors sells for 80 series.
they say they are made by the same mob as the genuine ones.

For me. I have decided longs are not the go as I have a full time 4wd and this can cause them to wear out faster than genuine ones.

The money you'll spend on replacing toyota ones you could by a part time kit and long's. Thats the go IMO

Longs are worth every penny, first trip out with them I decided i would put them to the test and hammer the crap out of it with front locker engaged and no troubles at all. Another vehicle that was there broke a CV on the same hill. I wont go back.

Bruiser, Repco also sell the NTN range...and they are a descent replacement c/v. I was unaware Marks had them for sale too.

I havn't broken one yet and can't see it happening.
Don't want to go part time and want a cv that will not wear.

still wanting to know if the NTN ones are as good as the genuine ones as the genuine ones are strong enough for what i do.

NTN Don't make 80 Series CV Joints, genuine or aftermarket replacement. They only make up to 75 Series.

Great to own a set of letter punches can brand them whatever you want :D i'm sure they do make them aswell. With the yuri ones they'd be better than stock but not as good as longs.

I know a while ago HG broke a Longfield rear axle and couldnt claim it because warranty was not given outside the US. This may have changed, but would pay to check up on this.

Remember by upgrading CV's you will break something else up the line, like a crownwheel or output shaft from TC.
Cheers,
Dan.

I just remembered something....all the aftermarket c/v's were smaller in size...75 series size, not 80 series size....is this what you mean??

Longfield doesn't make rear axles.
