They look pretty interesting, good concept over the old ford solenoids.

I've got heaps of 200 amp mosfets (about 30???), that I'd love to be able to play around with and actually use... if I had a winch. They be all sitting out on the back verandah doing nuffin but keeping the cat company.
(Farnell sell these mosfets for around $650.00 to $700.00 each)

innovation is better, better is faster, and fast is all that counts
9.5si M.O.S.F.E.T. CONTROL
SOLID-STATE CONTROL FOR A NEW LEVEL OF RUGGEDNESS
Warn Industries' M.O.S.F.E.T. (Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field- Effect Transistor) is sealed from the elements, so it's great for serious off-roaders. The 9.5si M.O.S.F.E.T. control module eliminates the solenoid pack and its electro-mechanical functions. Operating temperatures from -40?F to +180?F won't phase it. Voltage drop to the winch is minimal for more efficient operation and low heat gain.
With an extreme sealing system, aluminum die-cast body, and thermometric operator feedback, the 9.5si is the winch for the serious user who needs the best in reliability, durability, and control.

Effectively its a solid state solenoid. Well that's the easiest way of looking at it. The main advantage is that there are no mechanical parts in it so it wont wear out as fast or get clogged up with dirt or whatever, and has faster switching times than a solenoid.hammey wrote:Okay you got me..... whats a mosfet?bushy555 wrote:completely off topic:
