fuel problems 60 series

Post by bludger »

Having trouble starting my hj 60, its like it's getting no fuel, kicks over and wants to start but doesn't get that final kick, pulled the lines off to the injecters and turned the engine over but nothing, checked the filters all good and clean. It all started from last weekend, was running good then when i started climbing a step was running good till i got to the top, started running shit then stalled and wouldn't start just turned over and over, but seems to be no fuel coming up.

ANY IDEAS PLEASE

Chris

Sounds like your sucking air in the fuel lines somewhere. By climbing that hill, it may have exposed that leak further and allowed more and more air to be sucked in.

Might be your lift pump.

Are you sure it's bled properly?

Thanks mate, yep sure enough sounds like air has been sucked in and the primer pump is stuffed, Will buy a new one on Tuesday and that should fix it, hopefully that's the only issue.

Cheers

Does it look something like a filter?

Yeah mate its about half way along the inside of the chassis on the drivers side. It should be black and looks like a cannister. Bit smaller than a can. It has a 10mm bolt in the bottom. Undo this bolt and water first should run out, then fuel. I've heard these thing are prone to shit themselves.

When you say the primer pump wont pump, does it go up and down or is it just staying up?

Maybe a blocked fuel line, possibly sucked up some crap when you went up the hill?

See if you can gently blow some compressed air down the fuel line and then see if the lift pump works... Use the bleed nipple on the fuel filter housing to bleed it off....
