hi all... my first post here so i'll do a quick intro first: i'm from south east melbourne and i drive an 89 feroza (not feroza II unfortunately) which the previous owner moded up a bit (extractors, new exhaust, snorkel).
i've read around the place that removing the sway bar seems to be a common mod to do. i don't know much about this sort of thing at the moment but i'm keen to learn. what does the sway bar do? what difference does removing it make to onroad/offroad handling? is it difficult to remove??

The sway bar does what it sounds , it stops the car from swaying around when cornering etc and the idea of removing the sway bar is to give a little more wheel travel , 4 bolts and it's off ........

The Anti-Sway bar is installed in the front with the independant front suspension. It's job is to stop body roll basically. But as a result it limits how much the wheel can go up and down (articulation) offroad.
It's a fairly thin round bar that connects from the bottom arm of one front wheel to the other. It is connected in 4 points. One at each wheel and 2 under your front bash plate. It's sort of U shaped, pointing towards the front of the car..you can't miss it really..
Fairly easy to remove. Best thing is spray where it's bolted to the car with some wd40 a few days before removing it to help loosen the bolts. Remove your bash plate and undo the two bolts there, take the rubber off as well. Now do it where it joins the lower control arms on the inside of each front wheel, these were the hardest for me to take off but will do so with a bit of grunting
Onroad difference...if your car is lifted, you won't notice much difference. If it's not you may notice more roll when going around corners, but you adjust to it after a few days...I've forgotten I've taken mine off to be honest.
Offroad, you get a few more inches of travel, which always helps.
