has anyone ever done a 3" Body Lift on their sierra? I'm going to do one this week end because i hate scrubbing :cool: ... I was wondering if there are any major problems that will be encountered?

A 2" isn't legal unless you have it engineered either so it's te same in that respect

had one. took it out. just bash the gauards in
91 SWB Sierra. 16v 1.6efi, extractors, 6.1gears, SPOA, 32 BF muddys and 2inch bodylift

Seeing as he is in NSW, he should be right. I have a 3" in mine with an Engineers report to match.

There's no good reason to use a 3" BL.

my mate runs a 3" body lift in his everything is good on it except for the transfer stick it pops out of low
current truck, 105 series GXL diesel 6" springs & twin pro lockers
sierra LWB spoa one wide track diffs twin locked

My opposition to 3" BL's over 2" BL's is (apart from that they look silly and don't really allow a bigger tyre to fit) that the body studs are well clear of the chassis at 3" so all the work is being done by the spacer/socket bolt.

Additionally, there's a lot more leverage on the chassis mounts at 3". Sierra chassis mounts aren't all that strong - I've repaired quite a few cracked chassis around body mounts, although not on BL cars, and more often on 1.0 litre cars.

ok well i think i'l go with a 2/1/2 inch body lift not to big not too small!

Just use a 2" BL which are readily avilable. The extra 1/2" will not assist tyre clearance in any useful way.
