Well, I'm currently in the process of sorting out a few things on the Feroza after a couple of years of "neglect"....mainly caused by lack of time (working too hard) and lack of money (compliments of the Ex ).
Anyway, talking to my brother tonight, he works for a mob in Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne who specialise in hard to find auto parts. They have accounts with most of the suppliers listed in the FAQ section, and a number of others.
I'm hopefully going to be able to get the bits I need for mine at wholesale cost, but we are in the process of getting some comparisons between wholesale and retail prices so that my brother's mob can possibly do a better retail price on a lot of these parts for others. They also have a number of contacts for stuff like reconditioning of parts, etc.
I'll try to update this with more info as it comes to hand, but I think we can avoid anybody having to pay the ridiculous $250.00 + price for a genuine Daihatsu idler arm any more.... should be under $100.00.

That was the first part I thought of as I started reading your post!
Hopefully something eventuates- and thanks for thinking of the rest of us.
I should be able to get poly idler bushes for under $20.00.
It's a pretty easy DIY job to replace the bushes once you've done it once. Mine has lasted about 4 years and is still ok (only a little wobbly), but will be replaced in the current round of maintenance.
OL Daihatsu owners was first thing I thought of coz I know how hard it can be to find some of these parts.
I'm gunna see if he can source timing belts and water pumps also.
One of there suppliers is also an agent for Ironman Suspension Products, so I'm going to see what sort of price he can do on that. Has anybody got a recent price on Ironman kits for F310?
The idler arm has always been an issue, want to get a new one on so I
can investigate putting in bearings instead of bushes using the old one
for "development".
I have tried rubber and urethane - they all keep chewing out. Its not
allignment - just an under rated design IMO. won't do the steering response any harm either..........
Ah well, another thing to do.
P.S. Vitara auto is even more difficult than I first thought - BIG job.
Hope its worth the effort.
Feroza transmission is out, but will hang on to it for a couple of weeks, just in case the Vitara conversion "ends in tears" - and has to be reversed.
okay I met a fellow whose house I was Painting and it happens that he is the owner of a steering & suspension shop, at moss street. any way I spoke to him about this problem of the feroza steering in idler & pitman arms as I have this same problem & he said that if he could get enough orders in that they would designe & make that part but they would need a new one to start with. they do design & manufacture on the premeses. so if there is enough peoples responce I will ring him end try to set somthing up,send me emails in responce to show him if you are interested. Graham.
Hello my friend i would like to ask you could he make better and stronger idler pitman tie rod and relay rod? So i want have to change them again in 50000 kilometers because they cost to much. Also if from your experience you can tell how much will cost to creat these stuff?
Are these issues made worse by having big lifts or off road work? Seems strange some people are repeatedly replacing these components and other aren't?
Hi Guys - I have been trying to track down a set of tie rod ends for my f78 TDi. Dai want $900 for the whole set. I have found a guy in china who makes them and sells them for $US1.80 each - if anyone has an international courier account I can get a couple of sets for just the courier cost - $US200?
I have tried many places in Aus and can't find anyone with non genuine parts....
They list a fair few parts for both Feroza's and Rockys. Including the Feroza idler arm / pitman arm/ tie rod ends/ ball joints.
Paja has NOTHING in production atm. My brother buys parts from them for all sorts of things, but they can't do any Daihatsu stuff atm. I've tried a couple of others who source frm them and it's the same story
When I still had my Feroza, I toyed with the idea of custom fitting a Steering Dampener on it to try and assist the steering components cope with things.
I wanted to copy the set up on an IFS hilux.
Aftermarket bushes for idler arms are usually available but are currently out of stock, and it's not known when the next batch will be available.
If you need them straight away I can do some more chasing for someone else who makes them.
Yes ball joint prices are the same for upper or lower.
Cool, thanks mate. Should be in touch soon for the balljoints. Will also need an idler bush too, even though I replaced the whole thing at the start of last year
