OK guys i have a question.....

i have dual batteries fitted in the cruiser, they are already linked through a piranha dbe150 system.....

What i want to do is i want to run a seperate momentary switch on the dash so that i can link both batteries for starting when the main goes flat...
i think i'm getting lazy dont want to get out of the car with a jumper lead.....

anyways i have struggled to find any info about this anywhere......

any help or ideas on what the best way to do this, as well as a wiring diagram would be fantastic....

Generic starter solenoid from supercheap etc connecting both batteries when powered via dash-mounted switch (cable from batteries to solenoid should be sized to suit length).

Its not technically possible through the pirahna solenoid, you will need to run a relay with an 87a pin to switch off the pirahna solenoid (cut either the +12v switch wire or the solenoid earth) and then activate another constant duty solenoid.

Be careful how you do it. If you connect the full battery in parallel with the flat battery things could get very interesting (huge amounts of current being drawn by the flat battery.)

I am surprised the dual battery systems don't have a terminal built in for this purpose. Oh well.

I was thinking of doing a similar thing, but then i thought how often do i need to jump start off the 2nd battery. It's easy enough to hook up a set of jumper leads.

But if you are even lazyer than me and still want to do it. Just cut a set of jumper cables, crimp some terminals to the ends and run the batteries together via a h/d battery isolator switch.

You could possibly do what I'm doing. I have my fridge, big stereo etc. running off two 100 Ah auxiliary batteries plus my winch through a 200 amp solenoid. At the winch I have added a second solenoid controlled by a momentary switch with a 2 b&s cable from there back to the main cranking battery. So if I want to jump start off the aux batteries, I turn on the winch solenoid and then hold the second solenoid momentary switch and start the car. This sounds a bit involved, but only needs one solenoid at the winch and about 1.5 meters of battery cable. The reason for the momentary switch is so that I can't leave it on and flatten all three batteries by accident.

in my patrol i have a set of leads set up to jump across batteries with a batt isolator from a boat shop switch type for doing that job

but its under the bonnett and you would have to get out of the drivers seat for that!!

well guys thanks for the info but after all that i got a flat battery the other week and had to buy jumper leads so one of the leads just stays in the car now if i need to jump myself.
