Overkill coil conversion kit!!!!!!!
overkill wrote:love_mud wrote:How much lift is this kit gonna provide all up ??
6 inches which means you can run up 32,s with no body lift.
We can change the springs for a smaller lift.
SAM
Is this controlled by extending the bump stops sam? I'm a bit confused about how you ensure that the spring doesn't squash right done...
thanks

Correct
And some trimming.

So if the ride hight is going to be 6" taller than stock, and the springs will allow you to compress to approximately 2" less than stock (via bump stops - working on the assumption that you need a 2" body lift to clear 32's with leaf springs, so the bump stops would have to be 2")...
How much droop will these springs allow? in other words - what is their max extension (since they are connected solidly at both ends)...

i dont think it works like that
cos the futher 1 side goes down the futher the other 1 is goin to compress
but will u even need to run bump stops? are the springs that soft?
what sort of link setup is goin to be in the front?

I think that you would want to be running bump stops to limit compression, otherwise - if you were using the springs to stop compression - you would be making the car run higher than it needed to.

The springs we are using give a 6' lift from standard with 32's you will have to do a little trimming on the gaurds. As far as compression goes the spring will compress to a fairly short spring.I don't think bump stops will be a huge issue but until we drive it we won't know.
Tim the front end will be a three link arangment.

Seeing as Sam is adding photos of the build as it happens this will be very interesting.
Talking of the kit, even if you just bought a rear kit, imagine:
* 6 inches of suspension lift
* Smoooooth ride
* HEAPS of wheel travel
* No more S shaped springs
Stay tuned.......
Hey Sam, or UPHIIR, will this kit be offered in rear or front only? Hmmmmmm. Thinkin' here.

grimbo wrote:yeah haven't had any dramas with it so why mess with it. the front coil would be nice for approach angle issues and I keep on bending springs
My thoughts too, only I don't bend springs in front. And I don't get axle wrap in rear. Guess I drive conservatively. It's a sign of age. Breaking things means fixing things. eaarrgh, flag that.

Unfortunately due to Sam's medical condition, no work was able to be done on it over Xmas. I gotta work 'til Wed night but the metal we were waiting on has arrived so SUBSTANTIAL progress should be made on it later in the week.
We'll be testing different rate/height springs in it once it is on the road (and off it and will keep you guys updated
