Bolts in disimilar metals

Hi all;
I want to put a bolt into a cast alloy housing and am wondering what sort of bolt to use, as in high tensile steel, stainless, etc.
Just worried about any corrosion issues with disimilar metals.
On a different tangent, I want to put a bolt into cast iron, I think I will be fine with high tensile steel bolts with this?

use high tensile steel bolt and if in doubt use a small amount of copper anitseze grease, I use it on everthing its good shit
85 high roof 1.3, 6.5 tc, air lockers,ruf and 34 swampers. yep its an ugly pos.

No good for stainless (galvanic reaction).
Best general anti-sieze is nickel-based.

If you are worried about corrosion between dissimilar metals, get a paste called "duralac" from a boating chandlery or similar. Just put some on the bolt/thread, then you won't have any problems.

X2. Nickel based is the way to go I reckon.
And dont used stainless nuts and bolts without putting this stuff on as the stainless an 'Gall" up and seize. even on the first tighten.

carefull with the creeping grease thou, if you get any on your finger and not realise it will get EVERYWHERE, You'll end up with it on your face, head, ears, nose, on your crank. you'd be amazed what parts of your body you touch through out the dayAnd it sucks to get off.

isuzu rover is right duralac is used on all marine disimilar metals its unbeatable corrosion barrier the others are great on alike metals steel/copper /brass etc but ally is so low on the galvanic table just about everything will react with it i also think duralac is chromate conversion but not sure it is not good for your health so dont ingest it in any way
