quick question on driveshaft extention
quick question on driveshaft extention
a few months ago i got my front shaft lenghened but since then ive done ruf and the shaft now is too small well i think it is need to double cheak tomrow.
i was under the car and pushed up onto the front shaft and it moved up and down. like there play in it so im thinking its too short in the splines.
is it posible just to get the splines and slipyoke lenghtend or would i have to get the shaft extened again?
thanks

Getting the shaft lengthened would cost around $120-$200
Having the shaft remade with longer splines/slip yoke is likely to cost about a billion dollars.
I'd maybe try a spacer at the transfer end until you get your setup dialled in. you should only need an inch or so.
Steve.

Neater and less obvious, also, less side loading - the transfer only does suspension angle changes, the diff end does axle wrap as well, and the front end of a SPOA sierra will axle wrap a LOT.
Less likely to drag it on rocks etc too.
You could argue the other way too, but that's my preference.

Also helps the shaft clear the crossmember if you have lots of droop.

took the shaft off today had a look. looks fine no twists or anything. the spline goes in about half way into the slip yoke at normal height.
to quickly work out how much longer i need it. i have 1.5inch up travle does that mean i need to extened the shaft 1.5inch or so?
